SAE 20W-50 SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL: API Service SH, SJ, CF.

Product Code: ARO

AMSOIL SAE 20W-50 and SAE 40 Synthetic Motor Oils are designed to provide maximum benefits in gasoline-fueled engines. AMSOIL Motor Oils meet or exceed the following specifications:

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

AMSOIL SAE 20W-50 and SAE 40 Synthetic Motor Oils are chemically engineered with highly advanced synthetic base stocks and performance additives. They are specifically designed for high-performance engines that experience high heat, power and load. When compared to conventional motor oils, AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils provide increased horsepower, improved high temperature stability, increased acceleration, higher rpm's and lower engine temperatures. AMSOIL Motor Oils also provide superior lubrication for motorcycles, motorhomes, ATVs and other four-cycle gasoline engines.

Provides High Shear Stability

AMSOIL SAE 20W-50 surpasses the North American SAE and European ACEA/CCMC specifications for high temperature/high shear (HTHS) viscosity in 20W-50 motor oils. It resists the shearing conditions found in high-performance engines. AMSOIL SAE 20W-50 remains a 20W-50 and doesn't shear down to a 20W-40 or 20W-30. AMSOIL SAE 20W-50 maintains an extremely protective viscosity of 4.86 cP at 302°F (150°C) in the ASTM D-4683 High Temperature/High Shear Test, far exceeding the 20W test limits of 3.5 cP.

Resist High Temperature Vaporization

AMSOIL Motor Oils resist vaporizing in the high temperatures that vaporize conventional petroleum motor oils. The light hydrocarbons of a conventional oil are vaporized by extreme heat, which reduces up to 25 percent of the oil's volume by weight and leaves behind a thick, heavy oil that increases component friction. Surpassing the ACEA/CCMC NOACK Volatility Test pass/fail limit of 13 percent, AMSOIL SAE 20W-50 loses only 5.3 percent of its volume and AMSOIL SAE 40 only 5.6 percent due to vaporization. AMSOIL Motor Oils reduce friction and heat to increase the engine's horsepower output.

Resist Oxidation and Thermal Breakdown

AMSOIL Motor Oils resist oil breakdown from heat, blowby chemicals and oxygen much longer than do conventional oils. AMSOIL Motor Oils inhibit the formation of varnish deposits and sludge, so critical, precision engine parts are protected from wear, scuffing and scoring. They don't thicken like conventional oils, but continue to cool and lubricate, providing peak engine performance and extended drain intervals. In addition, the advanced heat transfer capabilities and high lubricity of AMSOIL Motor Oils may reduce the temperature of hot-running engines by 20° to 50° F.

Resist Deposit Formation

Because the synthetic formulation of AMSOIL Motor Oils resists oxidation so well, they run naturally cleaner than conventional oils run. AMSOIL Motor Oils have a superior detergent/dispersant additive package that, when tested after thousands of miles of use in the crankcase, still exhibits outstanding deposit control.

Provide Low Temperature Protection

AMSOIL SAE 20W-50 remains fluid at temperatures as low as -43°C (-45°F), and AMSOIL SAE 40 has a low pour point of -45°C (-49°F). AMSOIL Motor Oils permit easy engine cranking. During cold weather, they flow to all parts of the engine in much less time than conventional oils take. The ability of AMSOIL Motor Oils to lubricate at low temperatures greatly improves start-ups, reduces wear and increases engine life.

Prevent Rust and Corrosion

AMSOIL Motor Oils contain powerful rust and corrosion inhibitors to prevent the rusting of critical iron parts and the corroding of bearing materials for extended drain intervals.

MIXING AMSOIL

AMSOIL SAE 20W-50 and SAE 40 Motor Oils are compatible with conventional petroleum and other synthetic motor oils; however, mixing either AMSOIL Motor Oil with a conventional oil will shorten the extended drain period of the AMSOIL Motor Oil.

NEW VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY

The use of either AMSOIL Synthetic SAE 20W-50 or SAE 40 Motor Oil will not void new vehicle warranties. New vehicle warranties are based on the use of oils meeting specific API service classifications and SAE viscosity grades. AMSOIL Motor Oils meet the current API and SAE requirements (as labeled) and are perfectly suited for use in any new vehicle stipulating those requirements in its owner's manual.

SERVICE LIFE

Personal cars and light-duty trucks with non-turbo charged gasoline engines, motorcycles, ATVs, marine craft and occasionally used gasoline engines: drain oil at intervals up to three times as long as the intervals recommended by the engine manufacturer or one year, whichever comes first.

Turbocharged gasoline engines: drain oil at intervals up to twice as long as the intervals recommended by the engine manufacturer or one year, whichever comes first.

High performance and racing engines: drain oil as indicated by the findings of used oil analysis.

Light-duty and non-turbocharged diesel engines: drain oil at intervals up to twice as long as the intervals recommended by the engine manufacturer if extended drain intervals are supported by the findings of used oil analysis or six months.

Fleet and industrial engines: drain oil at intervals up to three times as long as the intervals recommended by the engine manufacturer if extended drains are supported by the findings of used oil analysis or one year.

If the vehicle is equipped with an AMSOIL Oil Filter, the filter should be changed at 12,500-mile or six-month intervals (whichever comes first) in gasoline engines and 7000-mile or six-month intervals (whichever comes first) in diesel engines. Non-AMSOIL oil filters should be changed at the engine manufacturer's recommended filter change intervals.
